We are entering the final stretch of internal logistics at NAU

NAU final phase

The New Aalborg University Hospital (NAU) is the setting for an ambitious project in hospital logistics in Denmark. We are responsible for the integration of 7 AGVs in the basement, where they will handle the transport of clean and used beds to and from storage locations, as well as loading and unloading in buffer lanes before and after washing.

This means that a task that would previously have required significant manual resources is now fully automated and integrated into a cohesive, efficient workflow.

Intelligent logistics with WMS and RFID

At the heart of the solution is the connection to ROIMA WMS. RFID tags ensure that each bed can be individually identified, enabling precise control over the entire storage and logistics flow.

The system is also integrated with automated buffer handling and NAU’s overall control system, creating a seamless interaction between software and hardware. The result is significantly more efficient and secure internal logistics, minimizing human error and enhancing operational reliability.

Developed through close collaboration

The AGVs are not standard machines but have been specially developed in close cooperation with WEWO Techmotion. They are also integrated with handling equipment from BILA A/S, ensuring that the system functions as a unified solution.

The solution is based on industrial principles, where WMS and location management enable fully automated operations. By transferring these proven technologies to the hospital environment, a robust system is created that can handle complex tasks in an environment with high hygiene and reliability requirements.

Setting new standards for hospital logistics

This project at NAU introduces a new standard for how internal processes at hospitals can be optimized through automation. The system frees up resources, allowing staff to focus on patient-facing services rather than logistics tasks.

For us, the project also marks an important step in bringing advanced intralogistics solutions into the healthcare sector.

Ready for the finish line

The project is now in its final stretch, and we look forward to delivering a solution that not only optimizes NAU’s internal logistics but also paves the way for a new era in hospital automation.
