The construction of New Aalborg University Hospital (NAU) has created a unique opportunity to implement advanced automation solutions aimed at optimizing operations and freeing up resources for core tasks. SCANLOX has been given a central role in this development by providing an innovative system for automatic bed transport. In close collaboration with our supplier WEWO and integration with BILA handling equipment, we ensure the efficient and reliable handling of hospital beds through a fully automated transport system. We are currently in the integration phase, where the system is being implemented and tailored to the specific needs of NAU.
Automated transport for washing
Traditionally, handling used hospital beds has been a manual process that requires significant resources from hospital staff. The project, which involves 7 AGVs, aims to optimize the handling of beds within the internal bed storage system that spans the entire basement floor. The automated transport includes the movement of clean and soiled beds to and from storage locations, as well as loading and unloading in buffer zones – both before and after washing. The entire AGV system is integrated into the ROJMA WMS with RFID tags for individual bed identification.
AGV technology developed for the healthcare sector
The 7 AGVs used in this project are specifically developed for the task and designed to navigate safely and precisely within a hospital environment. Using advanced software and fleet management, the system can coordinate transport orders based on a WMS, which operates on the same principles as in the industrial sector. This ensures optimal and reliable operation, with the AGVs performing their tasks accurately and efficiently.
